A lift for your Monday...Florals By Elise

Hey, today's economy and job market sucks! I've got a lot of unemployed friends and some of them have decided to be entrepreneurs. Ultimately, new business is what will turn around the economy and provide new jobs. But it doesn't happen overnight.

One brave soul is a former co-worker of mine: Elise Sherman! I didn't know about her passion for photography until recently, and she has an eye for beauty - the kind that inspires haiku poetry, but for other sites besides mine. :)

You will not be disappointed when you check out her extreme close-ups of flowers, tulips, and orchids. She offers prints and greeting cards - take a look here:

Artist Bio:

Elise L. Sherman began taking pictures in her early teens, snapping images of her family and friends. Over the years, her travels provided her with the opportunity to broaden her horizons and her passion for beauty started to evolve.

Whether she is walking in her neighborhood or exploring the beautiful botanical gardens, Elise always has her camera in hand so she can capture the beauty she sees around her.

I think it's safe to say we can expect her things to pop up in Manhattan boutiques and gift stores very soon. I tried to get Elise to write a haiku for her debut here, but she emphatically stated "I'm a photographer, not a poet!" If you buy something from her, make sure you tell her she owes me a poem!

Economy stinks!
Job hunters forced to rethink
opportunities.

Florals By Elise -
flowers you can almost smell.
They smell good - like hope.

Economy stinks!
Florals By Elise do not!
Check it out and buy!

Florals By Elise -
flowers you can almost smell.
They smell like money.

That second one is actually the first variation I wrote, and I hope it doesn't sound tacky to say her flower photos "smell like money." I meant it in the sense that they are beautiful and people will want to buy them and use them. Money gets a bad rap from the greed of AIG and Bernie Madoff.  But making money is essential to getting out of this economic slump, and I think we all desperately want some money right now. We need more entrepreneurs like Elise!

I wish Elise all the best for her hobby to become a successful and profitable career! And if you've been forced to re-think your job opportunities and you're trying something new, tell us about it! And if you've lost your job and want to rant about it in the form of a haiku, I hope you'll post it here!
